Learn how YourGameBase uses necessary technologies, Google Analytics 4 consent settings, browser storage and external media such as YouTube.

This Cookie Policy forms part of the Privacy Policy of YourGameBase and explains how cookies, browser storage and similar technologies are currently used.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small pieces of information that a website or external service can store in or read from a browser.

Other browser technologies, including local storage and session storage, can serve related technical purposes. In this policy, “cookies and similar technologies” is used as a practical collective term where appropriate.

2. Your privacy choices

YourGameBase uses a central Privacy Settings system with the following categories:

  • Necessary — always active where required for core website functionality, account/security features and remembering your privacy choice;
  • External Media — optional;
  • Analytics — optional.

You can choose Necessary only, configure the optional categories separately through Settings, or choose Accept all for the currently available optional categories.

You can change your choice at any time through Privacy Settings.

YourGameBase uses the first-party cookie:

ygb_consent

This cookie stores only the information needed to remember the current consent-policy version, your category choices and a timestamp.

It does not contain a YourGameBase user ID or advertising profile and is not intended for cross-site tracking.

The current consent cookie has a maximum lifetime of approximately 12 months.

4. Necessary functionality

Necessary technical functionality may include cookies, sessions or other browser/server mechanisms needed to:

  • deliver website requests;
  • keep account and authentication functionality working;
  • protect the website and forms;
  • remember necessary session or interface state;
  • remember your privacy choice.

Necessary functionality is not used by YourGameBase for advertising profiling.

Logged-in WordPress/account functionality may use technically necessary session or authentication cookies where required for the account experience.

5. Google Analytics 4

YourGameBase uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) together with Google Consent Mode v2.

The current implementation defaults the following consent signals to denied:

  • analytics_storage;
  • ad_storage;
  • ad_user_data;
  • ad_personalization.

If you do not allow the Analytics category, analytics storage remains denied and the YourGameBase implementation does not permit GA4 analytics cookies to be used.

The current website uses Advanced Consent Mode. This means that Google tags can load while analytics storage is denied and may send limited cookieless pings. These can include consent-state and ordinary technical request information but do not use analytics cookies through the YourGameBase implementation while analytics storage remains denied.

If you explicitly allow Analytics, analytics_storage is changed to granted and Google Analytics may set or read analytics cookies for measurement.

Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalization remain denied in the current YourGameBase implementation.

YourGameBase does not currently use Google Analytics User-ID, user-provided data or advertising personalization.

If you later withdraw Analytics permission through Privacy Settings, analytics storage is returned to denied and the YourGameBase consent implementation removes the applicable _ga analytics cookies that it manages.

6. External Media and YouTube

External Media is separate from Analytics.

For the normal YourGameBase video experience, first-party/local preview imagery can remain visible without loading the external YouTube player.

When External Media is not allowed, activating a video presents the YourGameBase consent flow instead of immediately loading the external player.

When you allow External Media and deliberately activate a YouTube video, the external YouTube player can be loaded. From that moment, Google/YouTube may use cookies or similar technologies and process information according to their own privacy practices.

If External Media permission is withdrawn, new external YouTube players are blocked by the YourGameBase consent layer and active players are removed according to the current implementation.

7. Submit Gameplay YouTube preview

The Submit Gameplay form includes a separate preview feature.

When you paste a recognizable YouTube video URL into that form, your browser may request the video’s preview image directly from YouTube’s image infrastructure at i.ytimg.com.

This image request is used so you can verify the submitted video before sending the form. It does not automatically start the YouTube player.

The request may send ordinary browser/network information to Google/YouTube, such as your IP address and browser or device information.

YourGameBase applies a no-referrer policy to this external preview-image request in the .164 implementation so that the page URL is not sent as the HTTP referrer by this image element.

8. Functional browser storage

YourGameBase may use browser storage for limited functional state that is not intended for advertising tracking.

For example, session storage may be used to preserve navigation or return-state context while moving between parts of the Games experience.

Functional browser state is kept separate from optional Analytics consent where it is technically necessary for the requested website experience.

9. Managing your preferences

You can change the optional External Media and Analytics choices at any time through Privacy Settings in the YourGameBase footer.

Your browser can also provide controls to view, delete or block cookies and other stored website data.

Deleting the ygb_consent cookie may cause YourGameBase to ask for your privacy choices again.

Blocking necessary browser functionality can affect account features or other parts of the website.

10. External providers

Depending on the choices you make and the features you use, cookies or similar technologies may involve external providers such as Google/YouTube.

Those providers process information according to their own applicable terms and privacy policies.

This Cookie Policy may be updated when YourGameBase, its consent architecture, optional services or applicable requirements change.

The date shown on this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
